Joan Marie Dorencz

Joan Marie Dorencz, 92, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Brickyard Healthcare- Terrace Care Center, La Porte.

Joan was born on December 10, 1929 in Chicago Heights, IL, to Michael and Marie (Beyer) Mulligan. 

Surviving are her children, two sons, Norman (Sandy) Craig of La Porte and Michael (Mary) Craig of Illinois; four daughters, Catherine (Howard) Kendys of Schererville, Cindy Lane of Kansas, Carol (Ralph) Gee of La Porte, and Christine (Paul) Applegate of North Liberty; daughter-in-law, Maureen Craig of Illinois; 16 grandchildren; as well as several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents; sons, James Craig and John Craig; brother-in-law, Tim Lane; sister, Annabelle (Leo) Lavey; and brother, Michael Mulligan.

Joan was a homemaker. Her favorite past times included reading and going to the La Porte County Public Library.  Joan loved seeing the kids open gifts at Christmas. She was also a former Girl Scout leader.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Monday, August 15, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held on Monday, August, 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
