Jack Lee Edson

<p>Jack Lee Edson, age 91, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at his home. He was born March 11, 1931 in Mt. Vernon, IL to George and Edna Edson. On June 11, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, IL he married Betty Marie Manley who preceded him in death on March 3, 2022.</p> <p>Jack honorably served his country in the United States Army. He began his career as a police officer in Southern Illinois. &nbsp;On November 1, 1964 he began his 21-year career with the Elkhart City Police Department and retired on November 1, 1985. Soon there after Jack worked as a court Bailiff for David Bonfiglio in Elkhart Superior Court 6 from September 30, 1985 until November 2, 2010. In his youth Jack was a coach for the FOP Little League. He and his wife enjoyed bowling and going to the casino. He loved the St. Louis Cardinal&rsquo;s and spending time with his family and friends.</p> <p>Jack is survived by his son, Stanley (Vicki) Edson of Elkhart; granddaughter Lynee (Brian) Perkins of Elkhart; great-grandson Eric Perkins and his dog, &ldquo;Fluffy&rdquo;. Jack was preceded in death by his parents George and Edna Edson, wife Betty Edson and siblings, Norman (Marveen) Edson, Robert &ldquo;Bob&rdquo; (Doris) Edson, Richard Edson, Pearl Carbine, Imogene Hester, Herb (Alice) Edson and Beulah Webb.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Friends may visit with family from 1-4 pm on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46154. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Elkhart County, 54687 CR 19, Bristol, IN 46507 or <a href="http://www.humanesociety.org">www.humanesociety.org</a> Online condolences may be made to the Edson family at <a href="http://www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com">www.stemmlawsonpeterson.com</a> Burial will at Rice Cemetery next to his wife at a later date.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
