John "Jack Lorri" Pingalore

<p>John &ldquo;Jack Lorri&rdquo; Pingalore, age 86, of Elkhart passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, August 8, 2022. Jack was born on August 30, 1935 in Norwich, Connecticut to Louis and Helen Pingalore. He married the love of his life Anita Corwin on June 28, 1963 in Nappanee, IN.</p> <p>Jack graduated from Norwich Free Academy. He Honorably served his country as a S/Sgt in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958 serving a year in Korea. During his service he was named &ldquo;Airman of the Month&rdquo; by the Seventh Aerial Port squadron, an organization of over 500 men. &nbsp;Jack then pursued a career in broadcasting after attending Columbia School of Broadcasting in Boston. His career began in 1958, where he worked for radio stations in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. His sports career began at WLAP in Lexington, Kentucky where he covered basketball and football from 1960-1962. He was a Play-by-Play announcer for 38 seasons at Notre Dame, WTRC 1963, where he was a sports castor for the local Elkhart County High Schools, WGN-AM Chicago 1984 and Notre Dame Basketball Network 1988-2005. He was elected to the Elkhart County Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 and Indiana Sports Writers and Sportscasters Hall of Fame in 2010. Jack was favorite time was spent with his family and friends and on the golf course.</p> <p>Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anita of Elkhart; their daughter Catherine (Timothy) Ganger of Slidell, LA; grandchildren Joseph (Rebecca) Granger of Slidell, LA, Sgt. Anthony (Rose) Ganger of Colorado Springs, CO and Molly Ganger of Hailey, ID; great-granddaughter Delpha Ganger of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Mary Houston of Warwick, RI and Beverly (Ronald) Faucher of Inverness, FL. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Helen; son, Daniel Pingalore, brother Edward Pingalore and sister, Shirley Woodka.</p> <p>In keeping with Jack&rsquo;s wishes there will be no services. Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd. Elkhart IN 46514 is assisting the Pingalore family. John “Jack Lorri” Pingalore, age 86, of Elkhart passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, August 8, 2022. Jack was born on August 30, 1935 in Norwich, Connecticut to Louis and Helen Pingalore. He married the love of his life Anita Corwin on June 28, 1963 in Nappanee, IN.

Jack graduated from Norwich Free Academy. He Honorably served his country as a S/Sgt in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958 serving a year in Korea.
