Gary Thomas Nemeth Obituary

Gary Thomas Nemeth, 68, of Fort Wayne, IN., passed away on August 8, 2022 with his loving and devoted wife Mary of forty-five years by his side. Gary was an honest, hardworking father who always put family first. Prior to falling ill, Gary loved to spend time at their lake home on Barton Lake. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, playing aggravation (losing primarily to the women), and watching old “John Wayne” westerns.

Gary was born in South Bend, a Northrop High School alumnus, class of 1972, Gary was the defensive captain of the football team. That year he earned a trophy for most consecutive tackles in a season. Gary retired from Dana Corporation after thirty years of faithful service. Additionally, Gary worked as an EMT for the coal mines in Rangely, CO and taught EMT certification courses at Rangely College. Post-retirement, Gary worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools as a teacher’s aide and bus driver.

Gary is survived by his sons, Mitchell (Bethany) Nemeth, Emery (Amey) Nemeth, Jacob (Jessica) Nemeth; daughter Christin (Darryl) Nemeth; grandchildren, Bryson, Lawson, Tristan, Tailer, Aubree, Bailey, Arianna; great-grandson, Kalen; brother, James Nemeth; brother in-law, Caleb (Ricardo) Whitehouse; sister-in-law, Tracy Cass along with several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Emery & Rita Nemeth and brother Mark (Theresa) Nemeth.

Calling will be on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10 am until noon at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
