Obituary

HANCOCK, Joan Marie

Left to be with my Lord on August 3, 2022 at the age of 82, peacefully and eagerly looking forward to a joyous reunion with my darling son Sean (1984), late husband Gerald Hancock (Jerry, 1988), my beautiful parents Dorothy (1988) and Walter Barry (1966), my dear sisters Marjorie Barry (1988) and Barbara Barry (2020). Hopefully I will be able to watch over my surviving sister Marilyn Roy (Don) and my dear son Blair Hancock, daughter-in-law Masako (my Angel), my darling daughter Jennifer and my granddaughters Sakura and Mana, God’s gifts to me on earth.

Thank you to all my kind, thoughtful neighbours and friends who have always been there for me over the last few years, and pastor Ben, who gave me peace and encouragement when needed.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Peterborough Regional Health Centre, where Jennifer resides would be greatly appreciated. I will be cremated and hopefully, if my family sees fit, spread my ashes in my garden where, “The kiss of the sun for pardon, the song of the birds for mirth, one is nearer God’s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth”. Bye, bye for now— until we meet again.

A celebration of life will be held at Gilmour Memorial Baptist Church, 2083 Chemong Rd, Peterborough, on Friday, August 19 at 1:00 PM. All donations can be given to the Gilmour Church building fund. https://www.gilmourchurch.ca/about-giving
