Gary A. McConnell

Gary A. McConnell, 76, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, with his wife and daughter at his side. Gary was born January 16, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Verne and Mary (Steffans) McConnell. Gary is survived by his wife, Jillaine of 52 years; daughter, Karin (Shawn) Javanovich; two grandchildren, James and Joseph Javanovich; his brother, Bill McConnell of Minneapolis, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, relative, and friend to everyone. In his younger years Gary enjoyed spending time fishing at Reed’s Landing on the Mississippi River. After high school, Gary attended the University of Minnesota and received an Associate in Arts degree in retailing and selling. He then attended Mankato State College where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. While attending post-secondary education, Gary obtained his pilot’s license and was a flight instructor in Mankato. He also served in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in 1976. In August of 1969, Gary married his high school sweetheart, Jillaine. He had a successful thirty-five year career as a corporate pilot. Gary enjoyed boating on the Mississippi River, fishing, and most importantly, spending time with his family. His grandsons, James and Joseph, were his world and source of joy. Gary had a generous nature and kind heart. He was always there to help relatives and friends with anything they needed. He touched so many lives and left so many cherished memories. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial/funeral services. A private gathering for family members will be held in the fall. Chippewa Valley Cremation Services - Celebration of Life Center is serving the family.
