Raymond Durand Obituary

Raymond Aime Durand
September 26, 1930 - August 25, 2021

Raymond Aime Durand, left this Earth on August 25, 2021 in Okotoks, AB. He was born on the farm in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba.

He is survived by his wife Therese Durand, and his children, Alice (Daniel), Robert (Louise), Annette (Joseph), Marcel (Lori), Rene (Menerva) and Gilles (Marlene), numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was a kind loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.

He was from a family of six children, Albert, Lucienne, Maurice, Clemence and Gabriel.
As we travel back through his life, one thing stands out is his joy and deep love for family, hence family reunions like no other. The Durand's would go to great lengths to gather yearly with camping, games and above all food.

Ray had a quiet strength about him, his children and especially grandchildren could sit with him for hours listening to his life stories with a quirky sense of humour. (And if we caught on) we would all be left laughing. He loved to tease.

Another great love of his was to travel, and that he did to several parts of the world. When he retired, they bought a place in Mesa, Arizona and spent many winters there. He loved to golf and had a large group of golf buddies. Dancing was another past time that he and Therese enjoyed for many years.

It is never easy to lose someone we love, yet we stumble bravely. Our heartbreak eased knowing he is flying free at last into the arms of our Lord Jesus. At peace at last. The journey of goodbyes will leave a deep mark on all of us.

Rest in peace our sweet loving
Father, Grandfather and Husband.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16
