Lusini Lolohea Gooden Obituary

Lusini Fatafehi Lolohea Gooden (nee Afemui) was born April 3, 1954 on the tiny island nation of Tonga in the south pacific to her parents Ilaisaane Simuoko and Siofilisi Muller Afemui. She was raised in a large family with deep christian roots in the Mormon church and would remain steadfast to her beliefs throughout her life. She emigrated to Canada in 1974 with the help of her late Aunt Fehi Nemet (a nurse) who sponsored her.

She married her first husband John Frayne in 1976 and they welcomed two girls, Edith and Simuoko. The two later divorced and she spent many years as a single parent. It was during this intense time, she decided to go back to school for her PSW (personal support worker) credentials. While at college she met her second (late) husband Rudyard Gooden and they would have three children together: Juaneta, Wolsely and Sesimani.

Throughout her life she was known for her giving, too often sacrificing her own needs to help others. Whether it be helping her extended family or her work supporting seniors, she always gave so much of herself and her resources to others.

Lusi had a great love for her grandchildren and nothing would bring her greater happiness than to hear their voices and know about their lives. She will be greatly missed by them (her jewels): Dajuan, Dayjean, Jahmari, Zippy, Rey and Royalty. Ofa lahi atu fa'e/kui fefine (Love you so much mom/grandma).

‘Oku ‘a e ‘Otua Kitaua (God be with you till we meet again)
