James "Doug" D. Adams

James Douglas (Doug) Adams, 48, passed away peacefully in his home on July 28, 2022. Born in Rockford on August 4, 1973. He married his true love, Sarah M. Carmichael. They shared 26 years together and raised a son. Doug worked as an operator for the City of Rockford. Doug was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was heavily involved in sports and dedicated to coaching his son’s junior tackle football team. Doug fought MMA and was a Golden Glove Boxer. He enjoyed racing at the drag strip on the weekends. Doug had many hobbies, including gardening and woodworking. His biggest joy was spending time with family and helping others. Doug’s warm heart and zany personality will truly be missed. Doug is survived by his wife Sarah, son Alexander, parents Larry and Billie Jo Mullins, brother Toby Adams, and sisters Heidi Doyle, Deb Mullins, and Sherry (Thomas) Walsh, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by his father Rick Adams, and sister Barbara Taylor. Visitation will be held Friday, August 12, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford 61108. The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel.
