<p>Marjorie J. Smith, 98, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 at Towne House Retirement Community. Born in Huntington, Indiana Marjorie was a daughter of the late Fred and Gladys Welker. Marjorie earned her bachelor’s degree to become a registered nurse in 1945. She worked for OBGYN Associates for many years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First Wayne Street UMC; served as past president of Allen County Medical Auxiliary, Indiana State Medical Auxiliary; served as vice president of American Medical Auxiliary; past president of P.E.O. Sister Hood- Chapter C.P. She actively volunteered at Lutheran Hospital and Botanical Gardens Gift Shop. Marjorie cherished activities with her family and spending time with them. She also enjoyed playing bridge, needlework especially creating cross stitch. Surviving are her children, Philip Smith Jr., Larry (Maribeth) Smith, Richard (Heidi) Smith; grandchildren; Andrew (Karen) Smith, Kathryn Smith, Timothy (Kristen) Smith, Elizabeth (Travis) Arnold, Amanda (Evan) Blinn, Nathan (Allison Reiplinger) Smith; 8 great-grandchildren with one on the way. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Philip L. Smith; son, Stephen Smith; brother, Russell Gene Welker. Service is 11 am, Monday, August 8, 2022 at Towne House Retirement Community, 2209 St. Joe Center Road, with calling one hour prior. Private Family Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Towne House Activities Fund. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.</p>
