Marlene Ann Boggs

Age 83, of Gaylord, formerly of Mt. Morris, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022, at The Porches of Gaylord. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 12, 2022, at Martin Funeral, Cremation &amp; Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Ralph Piper to officiate. Marlene’s family will be present to receive friends on Thursday, from 4:30 pm until 8:00 pm, and again on Friday, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made payable to the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Morris. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Marlene’s tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com.<br><br> <br><br>Marlene was born to Arthur Wilton Riley and Essie Irene (Chapel) Riley in 1939. She spent her early years in Arbela Township, moving to Mt. Morris in her teens, where she graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1956. She married Merle (Mickey) Boggs in 1961. Marlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she was very active and participated in the children’s ministry. She participated in 4H in her youth and served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years, as well as volunteered at Crossroads Village and The Red Cross. Marlene was a dedicated librarian for the Mt. Morris Schools for 30 years, where she touched the lives of so many children. Marlene loved bird watching, walking out at For-Mar, and spending time around a campfire. She was flawless in her support and dedication to her children. When her grandchildren arrived, she found it possible to love even more deeply with the grace and gentleness only God could inspire. As her years advanced, a group of like-minded gals accidentally formed the Butternut Garden Club. The Butternuts were full of fun, love, and support for one another. They were one of Marlene’s greatest blessings over the years.<br><br> <br><br>Left to cherish Marlene’s memory are her children: Carmen McGlinchey, Sim (Fran) Boggs; grandchildren: Matthew (Jessica) McGlinchey, Michael (Nicole) McGlinchey, Nicholas (Rae) Boggs, Ryan (Christine) Boggs; and many great-grandchildren; brothers: Ron (Judie) Riley, and Gary (Linda) Riley.<br><br> <br><br>Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Micky Boggs; brothers: Wilton and Roland Riley, and sister, Joan Milledge.<br><br> <br><br>Marlene's obituary was lovingly written by her family.
