Sumter, SC …. Leonard Sumpter, Jr., age 86, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at his residence.

Born in Harlem, NY, he was the son of the late Leonard Sumpter, Sr. and Beatrice Oliver Sumpter. Leonard was known to be a very cordial man who loved giving to others.  He was a hard worker and was very adventurous.  His true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are a son, A.J. Alexander and his wife Julie of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Edward Sumpter of Newark, NJ; a sister, Lorraine Smith of Bronx, NY and a granddaughter, Nina Alexander.

In addition to his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by two sisters.
