<p>Harold Floyd Atwood, III, 67, affectionately known as Hal by his family and friends, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, Brunswick Campus.</p> <p>A native and lifelong resident of McIntosh County, Hal was born on December 24, 1954.&nbsp; He worked as a shrimper for many years and also as a roofer before settling into his final job operating a lawn care business, which he operated until the final days of his life.&nbsp; Hal loved working in his yard and was an avid gardener.&nbsp; He was blessed with a &ldquo;green thumb&rdquo; and could grow almost anything.&nbsp; In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with things and fixing things around the house.</p> <p>His father, Harold Floyd Atwood, Jr. and his brother, Elmer Strickland, both preceded him in death.</p> <p>Survivors include his step mother, Rebecca Atwood of Brunswick and siblings, Buck Ormston and wife, Cheryl of Garden City, Kenny Atwood and wife, Pat of Brunswick, Donna McDonald and husband, Randy of Brunswick and Lisa Atwood and husband, Mike Mistisshen of Brunswick. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members also survive.</p> <p>Private graveside services will be held in Atwood Cemetery.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hart Animal Rescue, 14213 GA Hwy 251, Darien, GA 31305.</p>

Harold Floyd Atwood, III, 67, affectionately known as Hal by his family and friends, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center, Brunswick Campus.

A native and lifelong resident of McIntosh County, Hal was born on December 24, 1954.  He worked as a shrimper for many years and also as a roofer before settling into his final job operating a lawn care business, which he operated until the final days of his life.  Hal loved working in his yard and was an avid gardener.  He was blessed with a “green thumb” and could grow almost anything.  In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering with things and fixing things around the house.

His father, Harold Floyd Atwood, Jr. and his brother, Elmer Strickland, both preceded him in death.
