Beverly Jane Wilkinson Burkes

BEVERLY W. BURKES Beverly Jane Wilkinson Burkes, 75, of Palatka passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following a brief illness. Beverly was born in the Glendale Hospital in Palatka and had been a lifelong resident of Palatka. She was a 1965 graduate of the Palatka Senior High School where she played the drums in the Maroon Band. She had worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for 30 years, working out of the Palatka Post Office retiring in 2002. She had enjoyed making crafts and baking. She dearly loved animals. She was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association. She was a Christian. Preceding her in death were her husband, Johnny Frank Burkes; a daughter, Rebecca Jane Burkes; her parents, Gordon and Naomi Wilkinson; and two brothers, Harris Wilkinson and Edwin Wilkinson. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Brady and Joyce Burkes of Hawthorne; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Marty Wilkinson of Palatka; a sister-in-law, Brenda Wilkinson of Palatka; two grandsons, Jaxon C. Burkes and Bryce J. Burkes; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 8th at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Willie McKinnon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial in the Wilkinson Family Cemetery in Palatka will be at a later date.
