Rev. James R. Lahman

Irondequoit: Friday, August 5th, 2022. The Rev. Dr. James Lahman was born in Petersburg, WV on October 29, 1941. He served for two decades as the senior pastor at Salem United Church of Christ in Rochester, NY, having served previously at parishes in Cincinnati, OH, Warren, OH, and Mendon, IL. He graduated from Alderson Broaddus University, earned a master's degree from Princeton University, and a doctorate from Saint John's School of Theology and Seminary. He also received a Merrill Fellowship from the Harvard Divinity School.<br><br>He was an advocate for peace and justice throughout his lifetime and was the author of a book of prayers.<br><br>Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Janice Allen Lahman. Survived by his son, Sean (Heather) Lahman; daughter, Shannon (Laura) Truesdell; grandchildren, Audrey, Hannah, Henry, Megan, Emily and Jacob; three great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence “Eddie” Lahman; sister, Phyllis Helmick.<br><br>Friends are welcome to a Memorial Service Wednesday, August 10th, 11am in the chapel of Dreier-Giltner Funeral Home 1717 Portland Ave. Interment to follow at Irondequoit Cemetery.
