Carl Denson King

Carl D. King, 79, of Hurley, MS, passed away Friday, August 5, 2022 in Mobile, AL. Carl was born February 4, 1943 in Mobile to the late Jack and Corinne King. He was a graduate of East Central High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University. He then received his master’s degree in counseling from the University of South Alabama. He was a lifelong educator until his retirement from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He enjoyed fishing, music, and spending time with his grandsons, who were his heart. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his son, Carlton M. King and brother, Jerry King. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Baylis King; children, Mary Helen (Robert) Switzer and William D. (Karla) King; grandchildren, Jacob (Kaiya) Switzer, Cody (Meredith Mank) Switzer, Nicholas (Ashlyne) Switzer, Hunter (Angie) King, Ethan (Kendyll) King, and Austin Keene; honorary grandson, Daniel Hughes; great-granddaughter, Mila Switzer; and sister, Jane Tart of Buies Creek, NC; along with other family members and friends. The visitation for Carl will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Father Peter Varghese and Deacon Frank Martin officiating. Interment will be held at Coleman Cemetery in Hurley, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in memory of Carl to the St. Ann Catholic Church building fund or to St. Vincent De Paul St. Ann Chapter Hurley, MS P.O. Box 244 Hurley, MS 36555 Heritage Funeral Home, locally owned and operated in Escatawpa/Moss Point, MS is in charge of arrangements.
