Sharon Diemer Windom, Minnesota Obituary

Sharon Diemer

Sharon Mabel Diemer was born on March 19, 1944, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Harold and Marjorie (Holmes) McNeal. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Windom and later confirmed in that same church. Sharon attended Windom Public Schools and graduated from Windom High School in the Class of 1962 and then attended nursing school for a short time. On June 27, 1964, Sharon was united in marriage to Raymond Diemer at the Methodist Church in Windom. Together they raised and were blessed with two children, Jon and Leah, and were very proud of their close and loving family. After marriage, Sharon and Ray lived in St. Paul, Arlington, and Minneota Minnesota for a short time before moving to Windom in 1969 where they made their life home for the rest of their married years. Ray passed away on August 26, 2015. After his death, Sharon continued to live in Windom until becoming a resident of Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn in 2021. She passed away there on Friday, August 5, 2022, at the age of 78 years. Through the years, Sharon was a loving wife and mother who worked in the billing department at the Avera Clinic in Windom for over twenty years. She was a longtime and dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom where she was on various boards and committees throughout her life and taught Sunday School in her earlier years. Besides her church involvement, Sharon was also active in her community as a member of PEO, Cottonwood County Historical Society where she was a board member, Cottonwood County Food Shelf, and the Windom Area Hospital Auxiliary where she was treasurer for many years. In her free time, Sharon loved to knit and was known for her Christmas stockings and matching sweaters. Sharon loved to share her talent and was always happy to make a matching set of Christmas stockings for a family or as a baby gift. She loved to go camping, traveling to the mountains of Wyoming, shopping, playing cards, and was a very competitive board game player. Most of all, Sharon enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. They were her greatest joy! Sharon was a fun, playful, spunky, lady who was loved dearly by many. She will be missed. Sharon is survived by her two children, Jon (Julie) Diemer of Windom; Leah (Charlton “Charlie”) Hollon of Maiden Rock, WI; four grandchildren, Tanner and Sam Diemer; Travis (fiancé Rachel Crawford) Mattson, and Shelby (Zach) Sauers; three step grandchildren, Christopher, Cooper and Ceegan Hollon; three siblings Dean (Shirley) McNeal of Fulda; Beverly Benes of Jackson; Doug (Ann) McNeal of Marion, IL and many nieces and nephews. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Diemer; two brothers, Buddy and Dale McNeal; one sister, Evelyn Johnson and two brothers-in-law, Myron Johnson and Benny Benes. Blessed be the memory of Sharon Diemer.
