Nedra McClay

Nedra McClay, 78, of New Castle, passed away the morning of August 05, 2022, at her residence. Born February 12, 1944, in New Castle, she was the daughter of W. Donald and Maurine (Erskine) Gross. Nedra was preceded in death on October 25, 2009, by her husband of 44 years, Roger L. McClay, whom she married June 19, 1965. Nedra was a 1962 graduate of Neshannock High School. For several years she was employed as a bank teller and worked as a nanny, caring for children in her community and her grandchildren. Nedra loved to cook and bake cookies. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and talking on the phone to her friends and family. What she treasured most of all, is the time she spent with her family. She was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church where she served as President of the Women’s Group, was a member of Christian Women’s Club, served in the church nursery and helped with church dinners. Nedra was a faithful member of the prayer chain and was a committed prayer warrior for her family and friends. Nedra is survived by a daughter, Kimberly D. (David) Cameron of Warren, Ohio; one son, Todd A. (Robin) McClay of Fredericktown, OH; two sisters, Donna Wilkison of Strongsville, OH, and Evelyn G. Kara of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Ben McClay, Holly (Milan) Pozderac, Ashley Cameron and Joshua Cameron. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Tanner. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, August 9, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Rob Smith, officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Castle View Gardens. Memorial contributions may be offered to the New Castle Public Library, 207 E. North St. New Castle, PA 16101.
