Jay Joseph Becker

Jay Joseph Becker was born July 4, 1961 in Waterloo, Iowa: the son of Dwayne and Jacquelyn (Lowe) Becker. He attended high school in Waterloo and graduated from East High School in 1979. He worked at Rath Packing Company until moving to Dallas, Texas and became the chief mechanic at Mrs. Baird’s Bakery for 14 years. On February 2, 1992 Jay united in marriage to Lisa McGehee in Kilgore, TX and later divorced in 1995. Jay returned to Iowa and began working at John Deere as a welder and material handler for 15 plus years and was looking forward to retirement. Jay enjoyed riding his Harley, driving his Corvette, watching NASCAR, fishing, and cooking with closest friends Bret Brown, Denver Foote, and Mike Etringer. Most of all, he loved being a father to his beloved daughter, Brandi. Jay passed away unexpectedly on August 2, 2022 in the comfort of his own home. He is preceded in death by his parents Dwayne and Jacquelyn Becker, Brother Jeff Becker, and brother Jon Becker. Jay is survived by his daughter, Brandi Becker of Waterloo. Following Jay’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and his family will be hosting a celebration of life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed in Jay’s name to his family which will later be designated elsewhere.
