Douglas John Harman

Douglas J. Harman, age 54 of Durand, passed away peacefully Friday morning, August 5, 2022 at Hospice House of Shiawassee. Doug had a never give-up attitude as he fought his 4 year battle with cancer. Now he is in the presence of his Heavenly Father and infant son, Andrew. Per Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon. Chaplin, Ray Strawser will be officiating. Arangements are being handled by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Doug was born on December 4, 1967 in Flint, Michigan to the late Robert and Jane (Gooding) Harman. He attended Durand High School, graduating in 1988. On May 30, 1992 Doug married Emily Mercer in Philadelphia and together they raised their daughter, Kara. Doug worked hard to provide for his family and had worked at Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center the past several years. He enjoyed mowing the lawn, riding motorcycles, and was an all around good person. Doug is survived by his wife of 30 years, Emily; his daughter, Kara; sisters: Lisa Harman, Rhonda Shane and Tracy Sizemore; brother, Mike Harman; aunts: Kay Smith and Dawnette "Dawn" Gooding, Linda Willett; uncles: Ron (Jan) Gooding and James Harman; special long-time friends, Doug (Maxine King) Talbot and other loving family and friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Andrew John Harman. Memorial contributions are suggested to Doug's family at this time for future designation.
