Kristeena (Kristy) Cockerill Obituary

It is with great sadness the family of Kristeena (Kristy) Rose Cockerill of Roblin, Manitoba announces her passing at the age of 49 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 3, 2022.

Kristy was born to Calvin and Jackie Cockerill (nee Kolson) on August 1, 1973, in Roblin, Manitoba. Her childhood was spent in Roblin, playing multiple sports and creating memories with good friends. After graduation Kristy received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Manitoba with Honours. Her first nursing position was at Devil’s Lake, North Dakota. She then returned to Winnipeg to take her dialysis training and then took a position at the Dauphin Hospital as a dialysis nurse. Kristy eventually found her niche as a highly respected dialysis nurse in Russell, Manitoba when a new dialysis unit opened there. She was also a valued casual nurse at the Roblin Hospital, always known to be very knowledgeable, calm, kind, caring, joking and compassionate.

Kristy was a long-time member of the Roblin Golf Course and enjoyed countless rounds of golf with family and friends sharing many laughs. She also stayed active running and playing with her Cougars hockey team. Kristy’s favourite thing to do was spend time with her boys chatting, joking, and laughing. She also never missed an opportunity to watch them play their various sports, especially hockey and basketball. She was so very proud of her boys; they were the light of her life.

Kristy is survived by her sons, Kohen Dixon, Kayson Dixon; parents, Calvin and Jackie Cockerill; siblings Deon (Rachel Hoole), Jeremy (Andrea) Cockerill, Melanie (Kirk Nattrass); nephews, Isaiah, Mazden, Aven; nieces, Tayelyn, Jenae, Neve; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Kristy is predeceased by her grandparents Paul & Mary Kolson, Art & Maria Cockerill.

Kristy will always be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, smile, quick wit, and sarcasm. She will be greatly missed by her colleagues, friends, and family.
