Roper Covington, 98, of Shubuta, Mississippi passed away on August 2, 2022 at Wisteria Manor Personal Care Home. &nbsp;</p><p style="margin:0;"> &nbsp;</p><p style="margin:0;">He was born on January 11, 1924 to Thomas and Laura (Ward) Covington in Desoto, MS.</p><p style="margin:0;"> &nbsp;</p><p style="margin:0;">Roper is survived by his daughter, Carolyn (Bobby) Hicks, sons, Tom (Kaye) Covington and Frank (Vonnie) Covington, grandsons, Robert (Ashley) Hicks, Jason (Brittany) Hicks, and Shawn Covington, granddaughter, Sarah Covington, great-granddaughters, Adyson Hicks, Maeley Hicks, and Gracie Hicks, and great-grandson, Kaden Hicks. </p><p style="margin:0;"> &nbsp;</p><p style="margin:0;">He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam L. Covington, father Thomas Covington, mother, Laura (Ward) Covington, and great-grandson, Joshua Hicks.</p><p style="margin:0;"><br></p><p style="margin:0;">Roper was a decorated World War II Veteran and served in the Messenger Rifle Platoon in the United States Army. &nbsp;He loved gardening and was a farmer for life by trade. &nbsp;He and his wife, Miriam, served for years as traveling Sunday School teachers, visiting and spreading the Word to the residents of H.C. W. Roper Covington, 98, of Shubuta, Mississippi passed away on August 2, 2022 at Wisteria Manor Personal Care Home.  

 

He was born on January 11, 1924 to Thomas and Laura (Ward) Covington in Desoto, MS.
