Linda Diane Mellinger, 70, of Elkhart, died Tuesday August 2, 2022, at her residence in Elkhart surrounded by her loving family.  Linda was born August 10, 1951, in Elkhart, Indiana to Donald Ray & Mary Florence (Jones) Pontius.

     On January 31, 1970, in Jimtown she married Rex Lee Mellinger.  Rex survives along with 2 children, Jeremy L. (Catherine Eggleston) Mellinger of Elkhart, Timothy L. (Heather) Mellinger of Brimfield, MI; 3 grandchildren, Alexis Mellinger, Dayton Mellinger, Gabriel Kauffman and 2 great-grandchildren, Bentley Reed, and Kayden Hudnall.  She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Jim, Dennis, and Kevin Pontius.

     Linda was a former member of the Winding Waters Brethren Church, she attended the Bristol United Methodist Church and she enjoyed cooking, going on vacations with Rex and watching children. 

     Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. till Noon Saturday August 6, 2022, at the Bristol United Methodist Church, 201 S. Division Street, Bristol, IN.  Funeral services will start at Noon at the church.  Pastor Gary Lewis will preside, and burial will follow at Olive (West) Cemetery.

     Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.  Memorial contributions may be given to Cancer Resources for Elkhart County.
