Ada Juanita Walters
Ada Juanita Walters, 77, of Winslow passed away peacefully on August 1st, 2022, in Gilbert, AZ surrounded by family. She was born on March 10, 1945, in Sylacauga, Alabama to Minnie Platt and moved to Winslow when she was twelve. Juanita graduated from Winslow High School and married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Walters. She was a home maker and continued her education at Northland Pioneer College where she earned her associates of arts degree and eventually taught sign language classes. Juanita loved photography and writing and became a reporter for the Winslow Mail in the early 1990’s covering local events, history, and community news. She had many hobbies, likes, and interests including: the outdoors, Diamondback Baseball, quilting, sewing, rock hunting, painting, reading, gardening, animals, puzzles, and watching her grand-children and great-grand-children grow. Juanita loved to visit and laugh and those who knew her know what a great woman she was. She will be dearly missed.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Jerry Walters; son, Otto Walters (Glenda); daughter Amanda Hoyungowa (Derrick); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Juanita was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Platt.
Arrangements were handled by Greer's Mortuary. A celebration of life service is pending and will be announced at a later date.
