She was born on July 20, 1944, in Dunbar, WV, daughter of the late Dallas and Ruth Roberts Staats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Arley McGraw. Rita was a payroll processor at Burke, Parsons and Bowlby Timber Products in Ripley, WV. She never knew a stranger, and she enjoyed Facebook on a daily basis. She is survived by her spouse of 52 years, Cletus "Art" Schiefer; son, Michael Schiefer of Sandyville, WV; sister, Karen (Darrell) Hinzman of Mineral Wells, WV; and 4 grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 10:00 am at Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville, WV. Pastor Dee Rhodes will officiate the service. Friends and family will be received at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood on Friday, July 22, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
