Dorothy was born on September 8, 1927, in Connellsville, PA, daughter of the late Joseph Gmitter and Mary Struhalla Gmitter. She graduated from Dunbar Township High School in 1946, lettering in Music, participating in the Harmonica Band and All State Chorus in Uniontown, PA. She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Ravenswood where she served as Lector for eight years and sang in the church choir for over 20 years. She was a homemaker and was passionate about corresponding with her family and friends. Dorothy enjoyed hand sewing and writing poetry. Her penmanship was truly beautiful. Another of her great joys was cooking for family and making pastries for family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Edward P. Connors of Ripley, WV, and Timothy M. Connors of Ravenswood, WV; three daughters, Kathy Hartley of Ripley, WV, Barbara Brown of Ravenswood, WV, and Susan Sweeney of Pittsburgh, PA. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Shala Guy, Timothy Hartley, Danielle Brown and Erica Sweeney; four great grandchildren, Katrianna Ayers, Elijah Guy, Alaya Guy and Ava McCurry; one great-great granddaughter, Adalie Ayers; and four sisters, Wilma Petrowski, Agnes Fitzgerald; Ester Koss and Evelyn Kline. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Edward; four brothers, John, Tomas, Joseph and Frank; and two sisters, Mary Gmitter and Helen Matuschak. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018, at 11:00 am at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Ravenswood with Father Pen officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at Roush Funeral Home on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm.
