Visitation Location: Roush Funeral Home Visitation Time: Wednesday, June 13 (5-7PM) Service Location: Roush Funeral Home Service Time: Wednesday, June 13 (7PM) Jerry O'Dell Browning, 78, of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on June 8, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on March 16, 1940, in Hamlin, WV, son of the late James Scott and Carrie Violette Browning. Jerry coached midget league football and basketball for many years in Ravenswood. He also coached basketball in Bermuda. He was very involved in his children and grandchildren's activities. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jerry was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, second division, 8th marines. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1959, played football, baseball and basketball, and still holds the Hamlin High School record for basketball. He was a graduate of WV State University with a bachelor's degree in history and physical education. He was a hardworking husband, father, and grandfather. He was member of Local Steelworkers Union 5668 and he loved the guys he worked with. He retired in 2001 from Pechiney Rolled Products. Jerry was a Christian who loved the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sherry Browning; children, Jody (Heather) Browning, Sandy (Scott) Kiser, Becky (David Eric) Dixon; grandchildren, Jacob Mullins, Jenny Dixon and James Dixon, and Ashley (Josh) Pape; brother, Eugene Henson Browning; sister, Thelma Browning; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Everett, John, Virgil, and Willard; and sisters, Imogene, Dolly, and Betty. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at 7:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Pastor Bob Bibbee officiating. A private family interment will be held at Ravenswood Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice or Diabetes organizations of your choice.
