Lance Peter Ritchie

Visitation Location: Roush Funeral Home Visitation Hours: Friday, December 15 (4PM) Funeral Service Location: First Baptist Church Funeral Service Time: Saturday, December 16 (1PM) It is with heavy hearts to announce that Lance Peter Ritchie, 59 years old, of Ravenswood, WV, unexpectedly went home to be with his Lord and Savior December 12, 2017 at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. Lance was born April 26, 1958, in Wheeling to Larry Ebbert and Louetta Lovejoy Ritchie. He later met his beautiful bride, his high school sweetheart, Rhonda Ritchie. They were married April 4, 1981, and they share a love story that has touched and inspired us all. Lance graduated from Morgantown High School, but has been forever an honorary and adopted graduate to all those who loved and met him from Ravenswood High School, Class of 1977. Lance was a goodhearted man known by his contagious smile, laughter, never ending kindness and love. A man that never met a stranger, always had an uplifting word of encouragement, and a handshake or hug to be shared. He enjoyed spending time with friends, family, participating in functions with his beloved church family, First Baptist Church, and especially cheering on the good ol' blue and gold, "Let's go Mountaineers", you can hear him shout. He was a family man who always put his wife, children and grandchildren as priority. Although he is gone way too soon for our hearts to comprehend, we can take comfort in knowing that Lance knew God and understood "to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord" 2 Corinthians 5: 8. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lorrissa Nicole Ritchie. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving devoted wife, Rhonda Ritchie; Son, Brent Ritchie and Wife Angel Ritchie; Daughter, Bethany Taylor and Husband Jimmy Taylor; Grandchildren: Conner Ritchie, Warren Taylor, Lincoln Ritchie; Mother, Loetta Lovejoy Ritchie; Father, Larry Ebbert; Siblings: Pam Ritchie, Joel Ritchie, James Ebbert, Jennifer Rutanas, and Julie McDonald; many loving nieces and nephews; Church family; extended work family; and a host of family, friends, neighbors and others who have been blessed to meet and have Lance in their life that are far too many to mention. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017, beginning at 4:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood. Services will be held at 1pm at the First Baptist Church in Ravenswood with one hour of visitation before the service. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. It is in honor of Lance's always open and forever helping heart, and in remembrance of his beloved daughter whom I'm sure he is embracing in his loving arms in heaven, the family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Heart Association and Community Kitchen at Ravenswood First Baptist Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at roush94@yahoo.com or on the Roush Funeral Home Facebook Page.
