Audrey Bloomer

Audrey Grace Maund Bloomer, a longtime resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, died early Friday morning after a long illness. She was 86 years old. Born on November 24, 1926 in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of the late Roy Maund and Gertrude O'Connor Knapp. She attended School Two and Benjamin Franklin J.H.S. in Yonkers and was a parishioner of Holy Eucharist R.C. Church. She moved to Hastings-on-Hudson in 1940 and graduated from Hastings-on-Hudson High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Harry J. Bloomer, who survives, on May 6, 1944 at St. Matthew R.C. Church in Hastings-on-Hudson. Mrs. Bloomer was employed for 20 years as an executive secretary at the Andrus Children's Home. She was later employed as a unit clerk at St. Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry. Mrs. Bloomer retired in 1985. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Matthew R.C. Church, where she was a former daily communicant. She was a member of the Hastings Busy Bees and Senior Canteen. Besides her husband, she is survived by her three children: David and Mrs. William Mary Ellen Ballantine, both of Hastings-on-Hudson; and Robert Jean of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving is her brother, John Knapp, of Dobbs Ferry and her sisters-in-law, Ms. Vera Maria Guimaraes, of Nova Friburgo, Brazil and Mrs. Edward May Cusack of Dobbs Ferry. She is also survived by her cousins: Mrs. Edward Leona Flynn of Brookdale, New York; Russell Sharon Morvant of Henderson, Nevada; Mrs. Anthony Regina Masciarelli of Stamford, Connecticut; Mrs. Frederick Rita Siudym of Peekskill; and Robert Ernestine Johnson of Herkimer, New York. In addition, she is survived by her five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and dozens of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Harry J. Bloomer, Jr. USMC, in 2003, and her sisters Mrs. Joseph Patricia Duddy in 2007 and Mrs. John Doris Duddy in 2008. Mass of the Resurrection Tuesday 10am Church of St. Matthew R.C., Hastings-on-Hudson.
