Margaret Pearce Armstrong Dobbs Ferry, New York Obituary

Margaret Pearce Armstrong

Margaret was the daughter of Margaret P. Armstrong and Joseph B. Armstrong of Yonkers, N.Y. Margaret graduated from Scarsdale High School, N.Y. and worked for the Bowery Savings Bank in Manhattan as a Secretary. In her retirement it was her joy to volunteer for Yonkers General Hospital and later for St Joseph's Hospital of Yonkers. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Church of Yonkers where she served on the Vestry, Altar Guild, and Choir. Upon moving to Hasting-on-Hudson, she attended St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Yonkers. An evangelist at heart, she was always inviting people to worship with her. She was a most humble person, never expecting anything, and always greatly surprised at the smallest of kindnesses extended towards her; often immediately giving a gift to someone else. She had a childlike enjoyment of the simple things in life: playing Scrabble, Bingo with her friends at Andrus, the beach especially Cape Cod, sitting in the sun and feeling the warmth of the sunrays on her face, and watching a Mets game, enjoying her friends at Andrus as well as Lorrie and all the staff at Andrus. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is pre-deceased by her two brothers Alan and Kenneth, and her sister, Molly. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Peggy Armstrong, her nephew, Joseph Armstrong of White Plains, her niece, Carolyn Gazzetta and her husband Bob, their two sons Christopher and William of Briarcliff Manor; Carolyn Sheets of Catonsville MD; and her very special friend The Rev. Gideon Jebamani and his family Shanthi, Divya, and Arundhaya who faithfully visited her every Sunday. The Rev. Gideon Jebamani will be officiating at her Funeral Service which will be held at 10 am Saturday, November 5th at St Marks Episcopal Church, 1373 Nepperhan Avenue, Yonkers, New York. The internment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Community Life at Andrus on Hudson, 185 Old Broadway, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York 10706 or the charity of your choice. Please take a moment today to thank God for a simple pleasure in your life: A cup of tea, the feel of the sun on your face, doing a crossword puzzle, and lift up a prayer of thanksgiving for the life of Margaret Armstrong.
