Erwin H. Rock, M.D.

Erwin H. Rock, M.D., a long time Dobbs Ferry resident died September 4, 2011. Born in Rochester, NY January 6th 1922, graduating from Chicago Medical School in 1948 Dr. Rock received basic otolaryngology training at University of Pennsylvania & Harlem Hospital. In 1955, after serving in the Korean War, he opened his private practice in Yonkers, NY where he also served on the staff of St. John's Riverside Hospital becoming chief of otolaryngology. For 3 years Dr. Rock served also as the Chairman of Department of Otolaryngology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was recognized for, among other things, his contributions and research into the development of ear during gestation by the Academy of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology. He retired from practice in 2004. A consummate diagnostician with a perpetual love of learning, Dr. Rock's compassion, warm bedside manner and great sense of humor endeared him to his friends, family and patients alike. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edythe Neuville, their three children, Jack, Charles and Karen Jones and six grandchildren. Visiting 2-4PM Wednesday, September 7. Funeral Service to follow at 4PM Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
