Peter Allis Schellhorn

Peter Allis Schellhorn July 18, 1990-September 1, 2011 Peter Allis Schellhorn of Dobbs Ferry New York passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the age of 21. Born in Bronxville, New York on July 18, 1990, Peter was the beloved and adored only son of Mary and Carl Schellhorn, grandson of William and Helen Allis, the nephew of Irma, Wendy, Bill, and Jeff, and godson of Sally and Michael. Peter graduated from The Masters School in 2008 and was to have begun his senior year at Oberlin College this fall. He had a brilliant and inquisitive mind and a passion for learning. He was a voracious reader and a gifted writer, who loved exploration and new adventures. Peter's early years were happy, fun, and energetic. As he entered his teens he began to suffer from serious depression and the illness finally overcame him. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peter's memory may be made to The Masters School to establish the Peter Allis Schellhorn Award for Intellectual Curiosity, an honorary award to recognize a Masters student whose passion for learning and the life of the mind parallels that of Peter's. This annual award will enable Peter's spirit to continue beyond his very short life. The address is The Masters School, 49 Clinton Avenue, Dobbs Ferry, New York 10522. Contributions may also be made to The Children's Village, Dobbs Ferry, New York 10522.
