Donna L. Mackay

Donna L. Mackay a lifelong resident of Dobbs Ferry passed away suddenly on September 15, 2015. Born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, she is the daughter of Charles and Doris Mackay. Donna graduated from Ardsley High School. She worked as a graphic designer for Fabrication Enterprises in Elmsford for many years. Donna also was the co-owner of Happy Tails Grooming Salon in Irvington for 10 years. She was a former EMT for the Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Donna had a deep love for animals. She thoroughly enjoyed her trips to Africa and partaking in the wildlife safaris. Donna especially liked seeing the elephants and gorillas in their natural habitats. She was a patient, kind and warmhearted woman. Donna's greatest joy was caring for other people. She was a caregiver for her mother for many years. Donna made sure that everyone else's happiness was taken care of before her own. She had a heart of gold and a smile that would brighten any room. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Donna is survived by her mother Doris E. Mackay, brother Wayne C. and his wife Mary Mackay, sister Barbara M. Mackay, nephew Jeremy and his wife Jen Mackay, niece Heather and her husband Dave Douglass and 7 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her father Charles W, Mackay. Mass of the Resurrection Friday 10am Church of St. Matthew, R. C., Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Donna's name to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, 201 North Illinois Street, 16th Floor - South Tower, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
