Stewart Niven Storms, Jr. 86, Lifelong Dobbs Ferry resident passed away June 14th. Known to all as Stew, he was dedicated to his family, his community and his friends. He was a 55-year member of Ogden Engine Company. He had a long and successful career at Citibank, which spanned 32 years. Stew was the beloved husband of Carol Hanlon of 60 years, and father to Kathleen (Robert Barnes), Patricia (Craig Rogers), Caroline (Michael Barnes) and Stewart Storms III (Carol Penny). He was a cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren: Claire Smith, Ethan Barnes, Wesley Rogers, Julia Barnes, Susannah Rogers, Jackson Barnes, Katherine Barnes, Katelyn Storms and Laila Storms. He was a valued friend and colleague to scores of neighbors, including generations of Dobbs Ferry volunteer firefighters and the esteemed members of the Chowder and Marching Society. Stew was the son of Stewart Storms and Jeanette Peters Hanigan, both also of Dobbs Ferry, and the brother of Susan Storms Denman. Stew was a multi-generation resident of Dobbs Ferry. Stew will always be remembered for his big heart, his ready sense of humor and booming laugh, and his unswerving commitment to service (and his treasured Giants). He loved the Jersey Shore, golf, the village of Dobbs Ferry and his and Carol's large and faithful circle of friends and neighbors. Stew always had time to help, time to listen and time to be a great dad, husband and friend. Stew could usually be found with a Giants cap on his head, and very often with at least one grandchild on his lap. He personified love of family and dedication to his community.
