Ellen Camerieri, born October 28th, 1935 passed away on June 14th, 2018. Ellen was a trailblazer. More than a decade younger than her closest sibling, she lived an unexpected life from the start. Growing up she adored her much older siblings who spoiled her. Ellen graduated from The University of Notre Dame (now St. John's) when it was far from the norm for a woman to get a college degree. She went on to get a Masters degree in Social Work as well. When Ellen's husband Rocco was paralyzed in 1994, Ellen went into caretaker mode, and spent 14 years ensuring Rocco not only survived, but thrived. She was not a lady to be messed with, and anyone who provided substandard care to Rocco quickly found that out. This past Christmas, Ellen traveled to Singapore to spend time with her grandkids. Not a lot of octogenarians travel the world and sip margaritas by the sea. She spent her life helping others as a social worker, teacher, and nun. Her roles as Mother, Grandmother, Wife, Aunt, and friend were equally important to her, and she thrived at them. She liked to say "be good to yourself". She was, but even more so to others. Ellen was predeceased by her parents William and Helen, and her siblings Martin, John, William, Flurry, and Lorraine. She is survived by her son Chris, daughter in law Kristina, and her two grandchildren Madeline and Claudia.
