Joseph P Vaccaro 82, formally of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, died peacefully on the morning of June 15, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth, his three children Joseph Vaccaro Suzanne Jenkins of Hartsdale, NY, Christine Vaccaro Teel Paul Teel of Houston, TX, John Vaccaro Kellie Donohue of Rose Valley, PA and eight grandchildren; Henry and Spencer Teel, Allie, Jack and Lexie Vaccaro, Grace, Alex, and Sofia Vaccaro. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Moncrieff. He was pre-deceased by sister Jeanne Zeller. He was born in the Bronx to Joseph and Gertrude Vaccaro. He graduated DeWitt Clinton High School in 1949. He proudly served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 with a tour in Korea. Joseph was the owner operator of the Vaccaro Bakery in the Bronx, and the Briarcliff Bakeshop in Briarcliff Manor, NY, He was an avid bowler in his younger years, and enjoyed golfing in his retirement. He could be counted on to have a joke for every occasion, and to prepare great meals for family gatherings. He enjoyed his retirement days split between Delray Beach, FL and Waretown, NJ. A celebration of Joe's life will be Saturday 10:00AM Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Visiting Friday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
