Sister Margaret McGrath of the Sisters of Mercy died at McAuley Hall, Watching, NJ on Friday August 31, 2018. Born in New York City to the late Margaret and James McGrath, she was predeceased by her sisters, Sister Rose Miriam, OP, Rita, Patricia and Therese. She is survived by her sister Julia and brother James as well as loving nieces and nephews. Sister was an outstanding elementary school educator and taught in many schools in the Archdiocese of New York in Manhattan, The Bronx, Dobbs Ferry, Tarrytown, Mt. Vernon and Yonkers. In recent years she was an active member of Tarrytown Seniors at Transfiguration parish. Wake service - Wednesday, September 5th at Marion Woods Chapel, Hartsdale, NY from 3-6PM and Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, September 6th at 10AM at Marion Woods. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sisters of Mercy Ministry Fund at 150 Ridge Rd., Hartsdale, NY 10530.
