Rebecca Pena It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rebecca Pena, 90, of New York, NY, who peacefully passed away on September 2nd, 2021. Rebecca Pena was born on August 6th, 1931 to Jacinta and Frank Torres, in the bustling city of New York. Rebecca graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt, High School in 1948. After graduation, Rebecca worked in several secretarial and executive assistant positions including at City College and in private practice for Dr. Perlroth. Rebecca dedicated many years of service to the Columbia University Neurological Institute, working for Dr. JP Mohr. She was dedicated to and passionate about her profession and will be remembered as kind, energetic and a bright light by the many people that worked with her. Rebecca retired in 2005 after 50 years in higher education and the medical field. While retired, Rebecca had time to continue to pursue her love of travel, shopping and spoiling her grandchildren. In the 1950's, Rebecca met Joseph (Joe) in New York City. Known at that time as "Becko", Becko and Joe loved eating out, going to movies and dancing; they were inseparable. Rebecca and Joe went on to have a son Christian Joseph. Called "Coco" by her friends and family and "YeYe" by her grandchildren, Rebecca touched her family and many friends with her kindness and love. Rebecca was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her parents, Jacinta and Frank, her brothers Frank, Rudolph, and Armando, her sister Gloria and her nephew Peter. Her wonderful life will forever be cherished by her loved ones. She is survived by her son Christian, daughter-in-law Janique, her 4 Grandchildren, Jordyn, Christian Jacob, Jillian and Leticia, nieces and nephews, JeanMarie, Frank, Lisa, Thomas, Christine, Evelyn, Yvonne, Louis and Robert (Bobby) and many loved ones including Celeste, Michael, Michelle, and Lorraine. A Wake and Prayer Service will be held at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, Dobbs Ferry, NY on Wednesday, September 8th 2021 from 3:00pm-7:00pm.
