Elliott M. DeLuca

Elliott M. DeLuca, 95 of Dobbs Ferry, died on December 21, 2010 at the Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle. Elliot was born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, and a graduate of the 1935 Dobbs Ferry High School. Elliot was a WWII Army Veteran; serving from 1943-1945, as a Sergeant. His duties included the supervision and control of the activites of a crew of Engineers; in the costruction and demolition of bridges, road blocks and other obstructions. He also supervised and directed the clearing and laying of mine fields. During his service, he was also required to act as an inventory supervisor for confiscated German equipment. During his service, he participated in five major campaigns, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. After coming home from war; Elliot returned to work at the Anaconda Wire and Cable Co., in Hastings on Hudson, where he had worked from 1936-1943 as an operator of wire drawing machines. He also operated the braiding and wire rolling machines. When he retired from Anaconda in 1973, after working there for nearly forty years, he retired as an Inspector for materials manufactured for the United States Navy. On July 4, 1948 Elliot married Rose Bottiglierri, in Whitehall, New York. After forty years of marriage, Rose pre-deceased Elliot on November 13, 1988. Elliot was an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing the game with friends. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompeii Church in Dobbs Ferry; as well as a member of the Sacred Heart Community Group; The Embassy Club Senior Group; and a proud member of the American Legion. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Elliot was honored by active duty soldiers of the United States ARMY; with a Military Funeral Service Tribute; at a graveside service in the Mt. Hope Cemetery; 2:00pm Thursday, December 23rd, 2010. May the Soul of Elliot M. DeLuca; and the Souls' of all the faithfully departed; through the Mercy of God; Rest in Peace. Amen

We will miss my Uncle Elliott. We have many great memories and those of our last visit in Dobbs Ferry maintain what a great spirit and zest for life he had. May he now rest in peace with his beloved Rose.
