Robert P. Bayer a resident of Ardsley passed away at home on July 31, 2021 he was 81. Robert was born June 22, 1940 in Yonkers to the late Theodore V. and Ruth (Johnson) Bayer. He was a member of Local Union #3 and was known by all as a top notch electrician and proud union member. He was a devoted family man who was ever proud of his service in United States Navy on the USS Boston from 1959 to 1963, all who knew him would consider him a superman. He is survived by his wife Dolores (Acampora) Bayer of over 55 years. They were devoted to each other and were a phenomenal team. Dolores was his constant and devoted caretaker in the last years of his life. Besides his wife he leaves behind three children, Ruthee-Lu Bayer and her husband Frank Cacace, Barbara Bayer- Mertens and her husband John Mertens, Michele Bayer- Albano and her husband Michael Albano. Loving grandfather to Abigail Bayer-Mertens Human, Brendalyn Mertens, Sean Mertens, Haley Albano and Patrick Albano. Dad was the salt of the earth...honest, loyal, hardworking and caring. He lived through much, but always retained his love of life...and his often interesting sense of humor! His strength has been inspirational, and he fought hard to the very end, defying death a number of times. The shock for us was that it finally caught up to him. He died with dignity, as he had lived, at home...with family...and still on his feet. May he find peace and an end to his suffering. Dad, you will be missed and loved by all of us.
