John McAulay Obituary

John McAulay, Jr. "Jack" a long time Ardsley resident died July 12 at his home. He was born in Yonkers and lived in Ardsley for the past 54 years. Jack graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 1949. In 1955 he earned a Masters Degree from Columbia University. He served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during World War II. Jack started his career as an Engineer, as a student working at Otis Elevator in Yonkers. He retired after 41 years with the company. He held several patents pertaining to elevator equipment. After his retirement he continued his career as a consulting engineer in the elevator and escalator industry. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the American Society for Testing Materials. On June 27, 1949, Jack married Jean Pryzgoda at St. Casimir's Church in Yonkers. Together they raised their family in Ardsley. Jack was active in the community and was the past president of the Ardsley Board of Education. Mrs. McAulay died August 1, 2006. Surviving are his children Jeff Patty McAulay, Jane Rene Mondonedo and Jay Carol McAulay, grandchildren Margaux McAulay, Matthew, Rebecca and Jake Mondonedo, Heather and Kirsten McAulay. Funeral Monday 10 am Church of St. Barnabas, Ardsley. Visiting Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Assoc in memory of Jean McAulay appreciated.
