Sister Mary Pius Friel, RSM

Sister Mary Pius Friel, RSM of the Sisters of Mercy died in Dallas, PA on May 24, 2017. Born in NYC to the late Joseph and Sarah Friel, she was also predeceased by her brother Father Lee Friel, O.F.M. Cap. She is survived by her brother James and her sisters Sarah and Mary and several nieces and nephews as well as her Sisters of Mercy. Sister Pius was a dedicated teacher for many years in The Bronx and Manhattan and upstate New York in Keeseville, Brasher Falls and Plattsburgh. She was a Social Worker at Good Samaritan Hospital, Islip, NY and Administrator at St. Agnes Residence in NYC. She later offered her services as a Patient Navigator at Dobbs Ferry Hospital and St. John's Hospital, Yonkers. Wake: Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 3-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM. at Marian Woods Chapel, 152 Ridge Rd, Hartsdale, NY 10530. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 31 also at Marian Woods Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sisters of Mercy, 150 Ridge Road, Hartsdale, NY.
