Marguerite “Peggy” Irene Rakotz

Marguerite "Peggy" Rakotz, 92, passed away on August 2, 2020. She was born and raised in her beloved village of Hastings-On-Hudson. Peggy was the daughter of James and Barbara "Bertha" DeClark. She was a Graduate of Hastings High School and was employed by Amoco Oil prior to World War II. Peggy met the love of her life, Alex Rakotz, during her school years and their relationship blossomed shortly before he was drafted into the US Navy's Sea Bees Division. During his tour of duty in the Pacific theater they faithfully wrote letters to one another until his discharge and return to Hastings. They married and raised 3 children: James Alex Rakotz (Deceased), Barbara Alexis Clifford (Deceased) and Stephanie Rakotz. While raising her 3 children Peggy worked as a Bookkeeper/Admin. Assistant at York Surgical Co in Yonkers during the 70's through the late 80's, until she retired. Peggy was married to Alex for 70 years until his passing 18 month ago. Peggy enjoyed visits from her 3 grandchildren Alex, Ian, and Anna, cooking, events at the Southside Athletic Club that her husband was a long-time member of, family vacations, and an avid reader of just about anything; but enjoyed mystery novels.
