Mary Ann Dirr, RSM Sr.
Sister Mary Ann Dirr, R.S.M. of the Sisters of Mercy died at White Plains Hospital on Thursday, February 1, 2018. Born in New York to the late Peter and Marie Dirr she was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her sister Bernadette, her brothers Peter, Joseph and Jack and their families. Sister Mary Ann was talented, creative, prayerful and inspirational. She taught for a number of years in high school, college and prison ministry. In 1990 she founded Mercy Center which ministers to the needs of residents of the South Bronx. She served as the executive director for thirteen years and has continued a close association with the staff and neighborhood people. Wake: Monday, February 5, 2018 from 3:00pm-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm at Marian Woods Chapel, 152 Ridge Road, Hartsdale, NY. Mass of Resurrection on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:00am, Marian Woods Chapel.
