Ronald G. Marano

Ronald G. Marano, 69, a long time resident of Mount Vernon, NY passed away suddenly on October 13th, 2016. He was born in the Bronx, NY the son of the late Frank Marano and Rose DeVito DeMaria. Ronald was drafted into the Marines in his early 20's and was stationed in Alaska, narrowly missing being deployed to Vietnam. After that, he attended a trade school and became an electrician. He worked many dedicated years as a member of IBEW Union Local 3, formerly Local 501, which funny enough led to his nickname of "501" around the pool tables of Westchester bars. He was also employed by Tyco Plastics for roughly a decade as a maintenance electrician in a Yonkers factory. He was very talented and knowledgeable as well as generous. He was always willing to help friends and family with electrical work whenever he could. Ronald enjoyed shooting some pool and watching the Yankees, Giants and Rangers on TV. He was truly loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Rita Cassano, originally of Ardsley, NY, his two children James and Valerie, their spouses Laura Pomales and Mark Gryzlo and his two loveable grandchildren Ryan and Derek. He is also survived by siblings Paul Marano, Lorraine Fischer, Cindy Marano and Jeff Marano, and stepmother Lois Marano, all residing in South Florida, as well as several sisters- and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be Sunday October 16th, 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at Edwards Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522. The funeral will be held Monday October 17th at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 101 Mill St., Putnam Valley, NY at 11:00am.
