Robert Bronnes Obituary

Robert Bronnes died August 18, 2005 while playing a round of golf at the Beekman Golf Club. He was born in Irvington, NY on March 17, 1924, son of Fulton L. and Helen Seus Bronnes. He graduated from Irvington Schools and then served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He graduated from the University of Alabama and began his career as a Metallurgical Engineer with Phelps Lab in Irvington, where he worked for 38 years. Bob loved Irvington and was proud to have formerly served as Village Trustee and on the Zoning Board of Appeals for 36 years. He was a former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #34 in Irvington. At the time of his death he was serving on the Board of Trustees of Sunnyside Federal Savings. A lifelong member of the Irvington Presbyterian Church, Bob formerly taught Sunday School and was an Elder. Bob was a dedicated Mason. He was a member of Diamond-Thistle Lodge #555 and Briarcliff Lodge #1155. He was Master of his lodge 6 times, District Deputy Grand Master of the 1st Westchester-Putnam District in 1971 and a member of Mecca Temple #1 A.A.O.N.M.S. He was also a member of Kisco-Mt Shasta Chapter O.E.S. #690 and Past Patron of Irving Chapter O.E.S. Surviving him is his loving sister, Phyllis A. Durham of San Marcos, CA, his beloved nieces, Susan and husband Chalmers Goodwin of Escondido, CA and Karen Goodwin of Beacon, NY, also his beloved great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews and many dear friends. Funeral service 10:00 am Thursday, Irvington Presbyterian Church. Visiting Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Tuesday and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm .Eastern Star Service 7:30pm Wednesday, Masonic Funeral 8:00pm Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
