Diana Louise Moore Davis was born July 25, l912 in Elgin, Texas to parents Alex Moore and Charlotte Koehler. She passed away August 8, 2009, two weeks after her 97th birthday. She was married to Roy Dale Davis on January 17, l932. He predeceased her on January 26, l992, shortly after their 60th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her son Roy Dale Davis, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Austin; her daughter Bette Williams of Austin, her granddaughters, Robin and Kip McRae of Austin, Tara and John Boyle of Waxahachie; great grandchildren Haylee McRae, Brennan and Blake Boyle, her sister Margaret Hankamer of Austin, sister-in-lawNell Davis of Elgin, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by son-in-law Knox Williams III.Diana graduated as valedictorian from Elgin High School in l929 and attended Texas Women's University. During World War II, Dale took the family to Corpus Christi where he worked on defense building projects. In Corpus they were both very active in Second Baptist Church where she played both piano and organ. She also worked in the office of Davis Construction Company, a building construction partnership owned by Dale and his brother Ben.Dale and Diana return to Austin and started Davis Masonry Company and Diana again was the office manger of the business. But she was also an avid and able seamstress. She loved to go fabric shopping and sew very stylish garments for herself and for her daughter. Upon retirement she and Dale moved to Fitzhugh Road where they enjoyed taking travel ventures in their motor home with the "round to its", raising a garden, and being active with the Dripping Springs Senior Citizens Center. Diana often worked the resale shop for the Center. They were also active in the Dripping Springs Baptist Church where Diana continued her membership until her death.Diana was from a family of early German Settlers in Texas, having settled in the LaGrange area in the l840's. The family at one time owned the Monument Hill property but traded the property for construction of a large fireplace in their home being build on what is know at Mt. Elise. Elise was Diana's maternal great grandmother.Diana was a beautiful woman both in appearance and in spirit. She loved her Lord, her family, reading and music until her failing health precluded some of her activities. She will be missed by all who knew her.The family wished to thank the nurses and care providers at Hill Country Care in Dripping Springs for their sincere caring and thoughtfulness and to Hospice Austin for their help in her final weeks.The family will receive friends at Harrell Funeral home on Monday from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m.. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home with burial to follow at Phillips Cemetery. 4435 Frontier Trail Austin, TX 78745 512-443-1366
