Marjorie was born in Palisade, Nebraska, on February 13, 1927, where she lived with her parents and siblings, Shirley, and Wayne. She moved to Lincoln while attending the University of Nebraska.  She studied music and education degrees until she met her husband of 39 years, Robert (Jack) Stapleton. They married on June 27th, 1948.  With three small children at home, she continued to work on a bachelor’s degree. She finished in 1959 before the birth of her fourth child in 1960. She earned her master’s degree in 1969. She taught in Lincoln Public Schools from 1966 to 1978 when the family moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she continued to teach in Scottsdale Public Schools until she retired in 1992.

Marjorie belonged to many civic organizations through her long life including P.E.O., the D.A.R., Delta Omicron and Kappa Delta. She was a member of the Methodist Church until 1988 when she became a Presbyterian.  Marjorie made a positive and beautiful impact on the lives of many people by giving of her time, encouragement, and finances.  She reached out through calls, greeting cards, and personal visits to those in need or in crisis.  She truly was an instrument of God. Marjorie loved Sundays when the family gathered until the Sunday before she passed. We will all cherish those Sundays

She lost her husband, Jack, in 1988; her oldest son, Greg, in 2007; and her sister, Shirley Ploughman (née Premer) in 2009;.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Margaret and husband Mike, Carol, John and wife Donna, as well as her grandchildren: Michael, Kelley, Jeffery, Dana, Sara, Daniel, Paige and great-grandchildren Amelia and Lily.
