Mary Lou Imel Obituary
Mary Lou Imel, age 89, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, July
29, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 25, 1933, in Mount Vernon and was the daughter
to the late Allen and Ruth (Taylor) Watters.
After high school Mary Lou attended the Katherine Gibbs School in New
York City and The Mount Vernon Business School. Shortly thereafter in
1952 she married the love of her life, Jim Imel. She began her family
and became immersed in cultivating a loving family. She was the true
‘matriarch’ of the family. Her children never stopped seeking her
advice and reassurance. Her genuine jovial spirit and sense of humor
truly was pervasive and was always at the center of family love.
Mary Lou is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (John) Morgan of
Maryland and Barbara (Bill) Harris of Mount Vernon; a son, Jamie Imel
of Cleveland; six grandchildren, J.C. Grubaugh, Lt. Col. Jay (Colleen)
Morgan, Tim Morgan, Dr. Anna Kate Morgan, Maura (Scott) Paskerian,
Mary Elizabeth Harris; five great-grandchildren, Jack, Henry, Eliza
Morgan, Louie Morgan, and Kiel Paskerian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Imel in 2015; a
granddaughter, Keeley Imel; brother, David Watters; half-brothers,
Chuck, Gordon, and Raymond Watters.
The family is observing private services. The Snyder Funeral Home –
Lasater Chapel is handling the arrangements for the Imel family.
