<p>May Young Pollen, of Hamden, CT, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born in New Haven, CT in 1925 to Scottish immigrants James and Helen (Kissock) Young. Over the years May held positions at the New Haven Register, Perkins and Lee Company, and Yale University. Her proudest accomplishment by far was raising her five children. To everyone who knew her, May was known to be a loving mother and a proud grandmother and great grandmother.&nbsp; She was an avid reader and enjoyed singing. May could bring a smile to friends and family alike with her uncanny ability to spontaneously break out in a song that fit almost any situation.&nbsp; She was involved in church activities and in later years took on various roles in her senior community.&nbsp;</p> <p>May was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Curtis L. Pollen and their eldest daughter Gale L. Pollen. She is survived by her children, Beth A. Pollen, Linda M. (Paul) Fusco, Curtis F. (Pamela) Pollen, Carol A. (Mark) Goldberg and her sister Dorothy A. Young.&nbsp; She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.</p> <p>A private service will be held at a future date.&nbsp; To honor May&rsquo;s life, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice. The Hawley Lincoln Memorial, 424 Elm St. New Haven is in charge of arrangements.</p>
